Explainer: The War in Yemen Explained in 3 minutes
Yemen has been facing its worst humanitarian crisis in decades. Thousands of people have been killed and millions have been displaced after Saudi Arabia launched a military offensive in 2015. The poorest country in the Arab world has become a playground for regional and international powers. Saudi Arabia considers Houthi rebels, who control vast swathes of the country, an Iranian ally and a direct threat to their security. Three years into the war, the country has been devastated and civilians are bearing the brunt of the war. About 17 million Yemenis will face famine if humanitarian aid does not reach them soon. Inside Story - Who has committed war crimes in Yemen?
It has taken weeks of intense negotiations but now the UN has agreed to set up an investigation into alleged human rights violations in Yemen. Some European countries and Canada had wanted a commission of inquiry. But a compromise with a group of Arab states including Saudi Arabia was reached. Yemeni government forces, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, have been fighting Houthi fighters since 2015. How much has politics played in this UN decision? And who will hold those found guilty of war crimes to account? Yemen War: How western countries could be complicit in the suffering
Violence has rocked Yemen for years, creating what is often referred to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. And now, a new report from the United Nations suggests the United States, Britain, Iran and France may be complicit in war crimes, by providing weapons, intelligence and logistics support to those involved in the conflict. Yemen's children suffer collective trauma
A collective trauma both physical and emotional is being visited upon the country's children on an unprecedented scale in Yemen, where the health system has been decimated by war. It is a wound, aid workers say, that grows deeper by the day, as hundreds of children have been killed, and millions have been exposed to the threat of easily preventable diseases. Al Jazeera's Mohammed Jamjoom reports.

Women in the Yemeni war: "Our empowerment is the key to peace" | Cordaid
The war in Yemen has caused the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. The conflict escalated in 2015 and today 21 million people need urgent assistance in the form of food, water, shelter, and healthcare. How to efficiently address the suffering in this torn country at the southernmost tip of the Arabian Peninsula? And what need to be the priorities of the international community in this regard? To answer these and other questions, Cordaid, in collaboration with Yemeni partner organisations Family Counseling and Development Foundation (FCDF) and Yamaan Foundation, organised a conference on Yemen on December 2, 2021, in The Hague, which mainly focused on the position of women in the conflict. The Yemeni women in this video are doing everything in their power to improve the situation in their country and tell us what we need to know and do to achieve peace. --- Cordaid is an internationally operating value-based emergency relief and development organisation, working in and on fragility. We stand with those who are hit hardest by poverty and conflict. We support them in their struggle to move beyond survival and to fully participate in equitable and resilient societies. Care. Act.
